What does falsifiable mean? A fair test for HD-Blast

Falsifiable means evidence could count against a specific claim. A simple guide to fair tests, uncertainty and the unproved HD-Blast hypothesis.

A key may look right for a lock. It may feel right in your hand. There is still one question left: does it open the door?

I want readers to bring that same patience to HD-Blast, my unproved hypothesis about cosmic origins. A picture can help us imagine an idea. A test asks whether that idea describes nature.

Falsifiable means a result could count against the idea

The word sounds like an accusation. It is actually a useful demand: tell us what we could observe that would disagree with a clearly stated claim.

Consider an ordinary example. Suppose I say every key on a particular ring opens the same lock. Trying the keys gives that claim somewhere to fail. A key that does not open the working lock counts against it. If I keep changing my claim after each failed attempt, I have made it harder to learn anything from the test.

Scientific tests are usually more demanding than that example. Instruments have limits. Measurements have uncertainty. A surprising result may expose a mistake in an experiment or an assumption, rather than settle the whole question at once.

How this applies to HD-Blast

HD-Blast asks whether our Big Bang could have been the aftermath of an event in a space with additional dimensions. That question is explored in GOD PLAYS DICE Volume One. It is not an observed origin event.

Calling the proposal testable does not finish the work of building a test. A particular model needs clear assumptions, a measurable expectation, and a way to compare it with other explanations. The physical cause behind the proposal remains unfinished. A mathematical example or an attractive analogy cannot fill that gap.

I want the question to stay attached to the work: what result would make this particular version fail? That is different from asking only which result would make it look promising.

Three questions to keep beside any explanation

  • What does this specific claim say we should measure?
  • What measurement would count against it?
  • Could another explanation produce the same result?

These questions help keep curiosity honest. They apply to my proposal too.

For another part of fair testing, read fitting data versus making a prediction. Follow the dated work in the HD-Blast research section.
